Camp Nawakwa Rental FAQ


What are the rates?
We offer different rate options and services depending the needs of the group.  Our Rate One option, we take care of everything you just turn up ready for a good time.  Rate Two we leave the catering and house keeping to you, just leave the place cleaner than how you found it. Summer rates are different contact Johnny for more information. 
 
Is there a minimum amount of people required?
Yes, Rate One is 20 people and Rate Two is 40.
 
Can we have sole use of Camp Nawakwa?
Yes, in the winter months you need only 75 people (November to February), and the rest of the year 120 to secure the entire facility.
 
What’s the capacity?
During the Winter, Fall & Spring seasons only the upper camp is available (185 person capacity-subject to change).  During the summer season (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend) both upper and lower camp are available (210 person capacity-subject to change).
 
Is there a deposit?
Yes, 20% of the total fee. There is a $300 security deposit for weekend groups, which is also required up front to reserve the camp.  The security deposit is refundable if no damage is done to the camp.  If there is no damage done, and there is a balance due, the security deposit can be applied to the outstanding balance.
 
Is there a contract?
Yes, the contract and the deposit need to be returned within 30 days after of its receipt.  The deposit is 20% of the total fee are required within 90 days.  The balance is required to be paid 30 days prior to the commencement date of the lease.
 
How far in advance should I make a reservation?
You can make a reservation anytime, however established groups receive first right of refusal.
 
Are program fees incorporated in my rate?
Yes program fees are included in 'Option Rate One', however for Option Rate Two there would be an additional charge of $100 per day per program.
 
Is there a cook on site?
Yes, our staff are trained and experience in providing a balanced diet menu.  However, self catering groups need to provide their own kitchen staff.
 
Is there a fire ring?
Yes we have a Large fire ring/amphitheater with bench seating for 200 close to the Dining Hall. There is a 17’ x 14’ stage area with 220 volt electrical outlet by the stage with lights for evening use. We also have a smaller camp ring near the climbing, which is ideal for smaller groups. Please note fires may be subject to Forestry Department restrictions.
 
Will there be other groups there during our stay?
Yes, possibly, depending upon your numbers and time of year.
 
Do you provide staff during our stay?
We do provide staff to be on site or available 24 hours a day while groups are present.
 
Is there a pool?
The pool is available during summer season only (Memorial Day to Labor Day).
 
Do we need to clean the cabins before we leave?
Those groups using 'Option Rate One' we expect for you to clean up you belongs and sweep your cabins when you leave.  However groups using 'Option Rate Two' must clean up after themselves before leaving the camp this includes dining hall, grounds, kitchen, bathrooms, cabins, must be left clean and garbage must be emptied into the dumpsters..  There is a rental group responsibility list available.  Helping us clean up goes a long way to keeping our costs down.
 
Will we need snow chains during the winter months?
Snow chains may be required during the winter months, please check road conditions prior to driving to Camp. Also make sure you bring appropriate foot wear and clothing for winter conditions. 
 
Is there a lake? 
Jenks Lake is 3/4 mile from Nawakwa.  There is a schedule that will be provided to groups.  There are several canoes at the lake during summer months for use by Nawakwa campers.  Restrooms, picnic areas, BBQ’s are available (must reserve, all of the information will be given when contract is sent out).  Rental groups required to have certified lifeguard present during all swimming and boating activities.
 
Are there heaters in the cabins? 
Cabins are heated and completely winterized.

What is the nearest community?
Angelus Oaks is the nearest town. It has a restaurant, post office, small store, medical and fire squads.

Reservation Requirements:

  • An advance reservation fee is due when Rental Agreement is signed, with balance of rental fee payable prior to commencement of rental term.
     
  • A refundable security deposit ($300 for groups staying 2 nights or less, $500 for groups staying 3nights or more)
     
  • Groups who do their own cooking and cleanup. Cook (s) must have a San Bernardino County Food Handlers Permit
     
  • Proof of insurance naming Outdoor Journeys, as Additional Insured
