Our Adventure Camps offer campers ages 8-14 the opportunity to learn how to "survive in the wild" while getting an up close and personal experience with the natural world. Each level of our Adventure Camps are designed to build upon the last, with a progression from Explorer to Survivor 2 being the intended growth through the program. With no prerequisites to sign up for any session, campers should choose the level that they feel most comfortable with.
The first level of Outdoor Journeys’ Adventure Camps, Explorer will help campers ease campers into the program. This session is typically younger campers (though not exclusively) who have little to no experience with the outdoors. They will spend the first couple of nights in a cabin and will gradually transition to sleeping outdoors. They will also take part in more of our traditional camp activities (Archery, Climbing Wall, Paintball, Tomahawks, etc.)
Survivor 1 is the middle level of Outdoor Journeys’ Adventure Camps and is designed for those with some outdoor experience. Campers will spend the session sleeping in the shelters that they have built, learning how to cook their own meals (with staff assistance), and completing a full day hike.
Survivor 2 is the culmination of Outdoor Journeys’ Adventure Camps and is designed for those that have already learned many of the basics of outdoor survival skills. In addition to spending the session sleeping in the shelters that they built and eating the food that they’ve cooked, campers will have the chance to do multiple hikes, ultimately working their way up to hiking Sugarloaf Mountain.
